  Inte så skön kite sailing

  A kite surfer was severely injured on the north shore last week when he was pulled up and over trees on the shoreline at Kanaha Beach Park. Witnesses reported seeing Ryan Atkins being pulled through the air toward the trees at a high rate of speed. He made contact with the treetops with his lower body, apparently causing the kite to veer off, out of control, loosing any hope of a controlled landing.
  When rescuers arrived, Ryan was semi-conscious and had little memory of what had haopened, witnesses said.

  Ryan was hospitalized with multiple bone fractures and released from the hospital within a few days.

  Ryan Atkins could not be reached for comment, and no witnesses could be found who knew what caused Ryan to lift off over land. There was speculation however, that the kite surfer attempted a jump too close to shore, in winds gusting to 40 mph, and was carried inland as a result.
