This Techno 293 is dedicated to all those who want to learn windsurfing and funboarding but also go fast in all but the lightest of winds. The Techno 293 is 80 cm wide and more stable than any beginner big board. 205 litres of volume give it excellent stability and buoyancy, of which is quickly forgotten at speed…. And like all Techno’s, the 293 goes really fast.An innovative concept 100% accessible:
The twin fin
Two high performances 28cm fins are as fast as a single 50cm fin on the downwind legs. Benefits: increased maneuverability, less pressure on the legs and a more stable position for minimum windward loss going upwind. It also allows the rider to sail in shallower water close to shore, helping out with beach starts. For greater performance you can also replace the twin fins with a single, larger fin in the central Trimbox.W Hull
This original shape places a V under each of the twin fins. It provides improved lateral and directional stability, increased comfort in choppy conditions and is extremely forgiving in the gibes.Removable central fin.
This additional, easy to attach central forward fin is designed to reduce the frustrating sideways drift often experienced by less experienced sailors. It is extremely efficient and especially designed plug fills the space when not in use for higher performance sailing as the riders sailing ability advances.Easy planing and gibes.
Its width one foot from the tail and the central V generates an impressive amount of lift, which aids the boards early planing characteristic. The multiple foot strap positions are an excellent feature that encourages quick shortboard mastering even in the light winds. Dear All.
We are back from a show tour in Europe, including the Barcelona boat show,
the Paris Boat show and the Tushingham/Starboard dealers meetings in London
and Leeds.
As for news from the shows, besides the Formula and the Fish we would need
to mention the new Bic Techno at 292cm x 79 cm -205 liters.
The board has twin fins to be able to sail in shallow waters.
We have tried this concept several times last year with the GO , and it is
not right. the new GO 33 cm from Drake/ Hesselgrave is a far easier and
better performing solution. The people from Bic did however admit that they
had tried to adopt our new GO fin in the Techno after seeing it in Orlando,
but did not succeed with the right foil shape…The Techno looks good and its great that Bic now also starts to promote the
Ultra wide concept. This will not only help the sport , but also grow our
sales on the GO board.The GO is still in a class of its own compared to the Bic, and following are
the arguments:The GO at 280 x 83 cm is 4 cm wider and 12 cm shorter…..
The GO performs more with its sandwich construction and more modern shape.
