We are strengthening our R&D program to take our boards to the next level. We see windsurfing as a fantastic investment opportunity ( investment of time, energy , passion , expertise and $) , we predict the sport will see a sharp growth in particpation from 2004 to 2007 .
The future is bright ,,,,,and we want to be there with equipment developed and used by the best.
Windsurfing is going to become the next big sport and fashion trend . The challenge we have appointed ourselves is to motivate the rest of the industry to help increase the number of sailors by 5 times the current level by 2007. We rely on all team riders ,shops, distributors, clubs ,resorts, and other brands to reach this common goal.

World Champion Kevin Pritchard Chooses Starboard

After seven successful years with Bic Sport, Kevin Pritchard has chosen to join the ever expanding Starboard development program.

“Kevin is a great inspiration for us at Starboard, and we look forward to working with him on our shapes.
With our dedicated research crew, Tiesda You, Jim Drake, Jean Louis Colmas, Scott Mc Kercher, Colin Siferlen, Wojtek Brozozowski , Levi Siver , Ben Severene, Michael Nakvachara , Ty Bodycoat, Luke Walmsley , Ian Fox and Trent Pedersen we are ready to take windsurfing to a new level.
We see a comeback of slalom in the future and Kevin also fits well into this development. Kevin’s race and wave sailing dedication,is second to none, and we feel together we can bring new blood into the sport.
Starboards future goal is simply to ensure that we can deliver tomorrows boards yesterday and to set in motion any activities we possibly can to attract attention and interest for windsurfing. We wish to increase the number of windsurfers by 5 times the current level by 2007 and we are setting in place large scale programs to achieve this goal.” Says Starboards Svein Rasmussen.

“I have been watching Starboard grow as a company throughout the years. The positive energy that Starboard brings to windsurfing is great. I am happy to start working with a company that is as passionate about windsurfing as I am. Starboard’s innovative product line has some exciting areas that could revolutionize the sport. I hope to bring many new World Title’s to the Starboard family!” said Kevin Pritchard
Look for Kevin’s first race on Starboard at the US Midwinters in Florida… next month.

    Levi Siver joins Starboard.

Starboard’s wave board development team has taken another step forward.
Levi Siver joins with Worlds nr.5 Scott Mc Kercher, PWA rookie of the year Ty Bodycoat, World champion Kevin Pritchard and Maui young guns Nick Warmuth and Riley Coon
“I have always hoped that Levi would decide to join Starboard .
When I consulted with wave team manager Scott Mc Kercher and team marketer Eric Girad their response was as positive as my gut feeling. We think that within 2 years Levi will develop to his full potential and will be able win events anywhere on the planet. Now Starboards challenge is to continue developing production boards that he will find good enough to ride in all championships , much the same way Scott has been one of a very few PWA riders to select production boards for his touring. Starboard forecasts a large growth in the windsurfing market from 2004 to 2007 and wants to be there with the best sailors developing the best gear for the new “big wave” in our sport” :says Starboards Svein Rasmussen

“I’m very excited to be part of the Star Board team. I have been friends with the crew before I joined, so we should have a lot of fun pushing each other to progress the sport. It also feels really good to be with one of the most successful board companies in Windsurfing.” :says Levi Siver

    Colin Sifferlen develops Starboard.

Colin Sifferlen from New Caledonia is Probably the most extreme freestyle sailor the world has seen.
In his first and only PWA event last year, the Red bull “King of the lake” at Garda, his performance was breathtaking and easily secured him the title.
He was during the event using boards developed by long time Starboard shaper Jean Louis Colmas , who also is the father of the trendsetting Starboard wood technology. After winning the PWA event, Colin went back to N.C. To finish his studies and develop the 2004 Starboard freesex boards With Colmas. These are a whole new breed of Freestyle boards , setting a new trend .

Colin, despite his 18 years , is one of the most professional riders I have ever worked with. For us its key to have a sailor with such great insight to help develop our Boards. We see a bright future ,and it surely brings Starboard closer to New Caledonia, where the brand was born late 1994.” says Starboards Svein Rasmussen
