Event Swedish Youth Championship for Kona
Swedish Kona Cup Finals
The event is open for competitors from other countries

Organiser: Swedish Kona Class Association

Regatta location: The regatta will be sailed on the Lake Vättern at Motala, Sweden

Date : Saturday 2008-09-20

1. Rules

1.1 The event will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).

1.2 Kona class rules will apply if not changed by the sail instructions.

2. Eligibility requirements

2.1 Competitors shall be a member of his/her Member National Authority or one of its affiliated organisations.

2.2 Maximum age for competitors in the youth championship is 20 years during 2008.

2.3 Each participating board shall be insured with valid third party liability insurance.

2.4 Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The organising authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

3. Entries

3.3 The entry fee is 200 SEK, Youth 150 SEK, late entry fee 300 SEK.
Swedes pay to bankgiro 5121-9764.
Other nationalities pay cash at registration

4. Registration, weight and measurement checks

4.1 Registration shall be made at the race office not later than September 20 at 10.00.

4.2 A safety check will be made

4.3 Buoyancy vest or jacket is mandatory.

5. Sailing Instructions

5.1 The sailing instructions will be available at registration.

6. Time schedule

6.1 Programme
09.00 – 10.00 Registration
10.00 Sippers meeting
11.00 Time for the first warning signal
19.00 Dinner, Prize giving ceremony

6.2 5 races are scheduled.

7. Race format

7.1 The Kona cup will be raced in an A-fleet for experienced Kona sailors and a B-fleet for new Kona sailors. At a large number of participants may be divided into smaller fleets and one or more finals.
Details will be described in the sailing instructions.

A-fleet Classes: Overall, Red 85.1 kg and up, Yellow divided in two, Blue and Women (free sail)
A-fleet Class Youth: Sail according to class rules
B-fleet Class: Free choice of sails.

8. Racing area

8.1 The racing areas will be the surf center atVaramon in Motala, lake Vättern.

9. The course

9.1 Windward-leeward course will be sailed. Start and finish will be positioned to give spectators good sight from the Kona center.

10. Protests and penalty systems

10.1 The penalty with yellow and red flag infringement of rule 42 will apply.

11. Scoring

11.1 The low point scoring system of RRS Appendix A will apply, modified so that, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.
For the Kona ranking the scoring will be recalculated according to the International Kona Association regulations.

11.2 3 races are required to be completed to constitute a championship.

12. Prizes

12.1 Prizes will be awarded to the first sailors in each class corresponding to one prize for every fifth participant. This can be changed if there is many late entries.

Grymt bra jobbat Jocke & co!

Att få igång en juniorliga som kappseglar bräda i Sverige är en beundransvärd insats för sporten som borde uppmärksamas mer.

Säkert kommer det skapas en hel del formulaseglare, RSX-seglare ur detta, kanske en ny OS-medaljör….utan att nämna någon, tror faktiskt att det finns flera ämnen i gruppen….

Vore coolt att köra Kona VM! Om du beställer hård vind till eventet så dyker jag nog upp. Såg att jag var med på bild på Konas trimtipssida. Hur man INTE ska trimma ett Konasegel, he he. Hoppar över att trä nedhalslinan genom blocken nästa gång.
