i EveryoneAmery and I got on the water yesterday finally with some good wind.
We rode our T2’s against some Crossbow 1 and 2’s. In the same wind speed we could ride T2 5, 7 and 9m kites. That’s a serious wind range!
Here are reasons and good selling points to why our kite kick’s Cabrinha’s ass! –
*I prefer the feeling and predictability of Crossbow -1. After riding the CB1 I didn’t think it was a very bad kite. We feel they went backwards in a lot of ways with CB2.
I am biased to CB1, after all I had spent a whole year developing and riding that kite before I came to Sling Shot.
Well the T2 ran circles around both models in every area. Bar pressure, turning, power stroke, stability, bridle balance and look.
*CB 1 and 2 were heavy in the bar – All bar operations were dull. Steering was hard until you used force, kite was heavy to sheet in and out.
T2 shines in all these areas. We have a more responsive and quicker turning, lighter bar pressure and a much smoother sheeting/power stroke. This is due to the increased sweep of the LE.
CB is flat through the centre of the LE and only has sweep in the wingtips,
T2 has a consistent sweep through the whole kite. This offers leverage over the kite for better bar pressure and a better rear line position for steering.
*CB tends to stick to the water and the sand when LE down. This makes beach starts and water re-launch a little tricky especially in the waves when a quick re-launch is needed.
Once again the consistent curve and sweep through the LE make the T2 virtually impossible to keep on the water. It beach launches and water re-launches with less effort and time.
It’s the same principle as the turning and bar pressure. Having the rear line attachment further back and the consistent sweep allow the kite to pivot quickly.
*CB had a lot of movement in the sky while flying and wobbled around. I could feel all its behavior through the bar.
The bridle on the CB 1 looks as though all pieces of string are fighting against each other and pulling from weird angles.
T2 has a much more well balanced bridle and attachment positions. All lines look as they are following the same angles and supporting the kite properly.
SlingShot use’s the best materials for kite development. Using DP Dacron on the kites is a huge selling point as it makes our kites more rigid.
This offers better response to bar operations and adds to our super stability. The Cabrinha Teijan Dacron is a cheaper material that is soft and becomes very brittle after time.
I believe they are missing out on a huge performance advantage without this material. HA HA!!!
*CB bar is heavy and the grip wears holes in your hands. Their depower strap is dangly and kind of dangerous. We all know how good the T2 bar is. Light, simple and strong.
*Cross Bow is visually an eye sore. Once again they have gone for the cheap way out and used only 2 colors per kite with heavy inks.
Say no more our kites look like SS kites and are visually solid, stable and make an impression on people when seen.
I hope this adds some new information and confidence to everyone’s selling approach.
