hej, jag kom på följande för ett år sedan, mailade runt det till tillverkare men fann inget intresse så jag släpper ideén till alla glada och trevliga formulaseglare därute. texten är på engelska men jag tror inte att det är något problem för någon….
System to attach the fastening screw to a Tuttle fin without using a screwdriver, or any other form of device.
Attach plastic knob to the screw that goes into the Tuttle fin with ceramic concrete or some other form of adhesive such as superglue, let it dry and harden.
After this procedure the screw with knob can be used to fasten the Tuttle fin to the board without using any kind of device. The screw that is attaching the Tuttle fin to the board is being attached by hand, while rotating the knob attached to the screw the fin is being attached.
It does also lower the pressure of force against the board that is being developed while attaching the fin.
In conclusion:
This system lets the user attach the fin without any form of device such as a screwdriver and uses less pressure against the board.
It is a simple way of solving a sometimes irritating problem, forgetting the screwdriver or whatever tool one uses, and having one extra part to bring while going windsurfing.
I have been using a plastic knob that the Swedish car rack producer Thule have been using for different devices, it can of course be made more user-friendly by making a bigger more orthopaedic knob with an angle made specific for the board, or a softer plastic material between the knob and the board so the screw with knob follows the contour of the board.
This so it lies directly to the deck of the board. It can also be done in a colour that follows the colour scheme of the board.
I have been using this system for over one year and still haven’t had any problems with it.
