Någon som är sugen på att hjälpa Patrick Vanhoof med detta??
Hey guys,
My name is Patrick. I’m from Belgium and some of you will know me as B52.
For many years I do speedsailing. I love it and since a few years I also compete at international competitions.
For 15 years I organize the Belgian Speed Week in the South of France. Each year we have to disappoint people because we have a maximum of 70 riders.
Now, why do I contact you ?
I’m pretty sure that in a few years it will be impossible to get your surfgear with you on an airplaine.
Now it’s already very difficult. You can only take packets of max. 30kg, max 2 or 3 packets etc……..
I’m also convinced that in a few years it will be harder and harder to find sponsors for prize money for competitions
That’s what we see already this year, untill now we had only one event and also this one is cancelled.With all these questions in my mind I started thinking.
Belgium, France, England, Sweden and Germany have already their championships.
Very simple, no pricemoney, GPS, low budgets. Every event you can reach by car, you don’t have to take the airplane.
What if we put everything in a tour and out of the 5 events the 3 best count for the overall result?
Finally the winner can call hmself “the European Champion.”
Of course this is a proposal, it’s a draft of what I have in my mind. Of course we have to discuss a lot of things: rules, membershipfees, etc.
One important case, this not to replace ore to work against the ISWC, also with them we have to discus everyhing, let us be clear int that..I hope you all will be as enthousiastic as I am about the idea! Maybe we can meet each other somewere.
This way, we can do competitions in the discipline we all love so much. And maybe other countries will join us.

Pat har lobbat för den idén ett tag nu, men mindre publikt.
Jag är mycket tveksam. Tror inte det är på grund av dyra flyg som folk inte åker till Weymouth, Dungarvan, södra Frankrike etc utan mera brist på tid. Att sitta i en bil i 300 mil och kanske dessutom bli sittande i en vecka väntandes på vind blir snarare den definitiva spiken i kistan för internationella speedtävlingar.
Jag tror snarare på att arrangera tävlingar på 100% vindsäkra ställen såsom Karpathos, Soma Bay, Tarifa, Walvis Bay.
Inte nödvändigtvis med en massa prispengar utan hellre i ”King of the Speed-format”. Givetvis ska det inte kosta en förmögenhet, men charterställen brukar vara överkomliga och flyget lätt att få med prylarna.
Jag tror att Patrick saknar en lokal serie typ SWT som är någorlunda klass på i Belgien, därför vill han ”bonda” med oss.
