What is the difference between a dacron and monofilm sail, and what advantages or disadvantages can a sailor expect from these different materials ?

The dacron sail is easier to handle especially when packing the sail back in it’s bag. The dacron sail does not need to be dismantled from the rig after use. There are two windows in the dacron sail, which give clear visibility through the sail which is important when other people are around. A monofilm sail needs more careful handling when packed into the bag. If you want to keep your monofilm sail in a proper shape, you can disassemble the sail from the rig after use, and roll the sail separately as with a monofilm surf sail. The other method is to fold the sail just as a dacron sail together with the rig. We have not been able to register any big differences between the two sail materials in respect to sailing properties.
