Speedsurfingblog: [travel] The cadbnb concept, fir
For my job I have a SUV (sports utility vehicle), I chose this Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV because it can drive electrical and on petrol it is more eco-friendly which suits the company values. Also it is somewhat bigger inside, which makes it easier to take drilling equipment and/or samples for my job.
But the car is also fun to travel, after a few times with my parents mobile home I tried the Mitsubishi with my girlfriend Sun for a few trips. Most of our trips are spontaneous, like these adventures below.
First trip, stolen outboard and stranger in the night
This was actually not planned, but the first one sort of happened. We had a sailboat in the Andijk harbor and after a day hard working and eating pizza at Dijkhuis Andijk we would have left the harbor for a sailing trip. However the outboard engine was stolen!!! This made it impossible to get out of this harbor. Since it was quite late and we were hungry for adventure we threw the boat pillows in the Mitsubishi and made a bed in the back.
I drove a bit more the Enkhuizen and halfway there was a factory and ditch/river, between both was a small green area (trees and bushes). I drove my car on unpaved the service road (high grass) and it was a quite romantic place, we were really hidden…
Later that night 2AM a stranger stopped on the road at the other side of the bushes/trees. I woke up and thought he could not have seen us, this guy walked through the bushes (I was thinking about all kind of horror scenes at this point of time) and he walked a few metres behind our car. Than he grabbed something and did something in the river (taking a sample?). After this he went away. I didn’t trust the location anymore and chose for a second spot to camp…Trip two, Geneva, inflatable beds insulate bad
This trip was planned with the Mitsubishi. Again it was quite spontaneous, and soo it happened we could not find any place to stay once we wanted to sleep… We did throw in some inflatable beds in the car, we slept on it for one night, to find out this was cold and inflatable beds insulate very bad! The next night we stopped early and had a rest in a motel…Trip three, world championship BBQ
The third trip was in the Netherlands, but now we prepared the Mitsubishi to have a good bed. We made 4 large drawers which when put together make one bed for two. We went to the world championship BBQ, which was in Hoofddorp and great fun. On Sunday we even had some meat of competitors and it was amazing to taste the differences between different BBQ masters.
