No worries, jag tycker också ämnet är för viktigt för att slarvas bort. Dessutom är ju skapandet av denna tråd en produkt av att en annan tråd skulle handla om ett Goyasegel och inte om andra lätta segel… mer ordning på torpet helt enkelt! Jag hade ett Core för länge sedan, måste säga att det är fantastiskt vad mina 4-lattade segel idag skiljer sig från Core.

We are 7 windsurfers in Denmark that have been on 5-Oceans since april and all sails are as new allthough they have taken a lot of punishment. 2 of us (not me unfortunately) have been 2 weeks on Reunion with a couple of times on the rocks – with no problems at all.

5-Oceans are not built light to sacrifice durability. The cloth that 5-Oceans uses is a high tech cloth not to compare to cheap and heavy X-ply.

One of the danish/dutch 5-Oceans windsurfers is a former sailmaker at North Sails Denmark (building sails for top sail boats around the globe, fx America Cup racers) and in his and his boss’ opinion most production windsurf sails are made of poor material and very poor craftmanship.

I have 4-batten sails from 3.4 to 5.0 and a 5-batten on 5.9. I have mostly used my 4-battens that are of standard construction. Before I had Simmer Icon 2010 sails. The 5-Ocean 4-batten has better low-end power than the Icon and the top-end is just as good. The handling is much better. Even though the mast is fairly long it rotates significantly faster in forward loops – I quess because of the low swing weight.

One of my friends just bought Hot Sails Maui Firelight in 5.3 and 4.7 and he has already smashed the one of them!

Awesome looking sail, I really like the clean cut and the colours.

I might be a safety idiot, but after a couple of ocean races in heavy weather and a few rescue missions helping other windsurfers, I really do think you have another reason for keeping that sail. It’s plain idiocy that we keep sailing with black wetsuits and white boards! Ask a rescue team what they think about that when looking for an idiot who went out sailing in a low pressure with a black/white equipment. What are the colours of a foaming sea in high winds?..
Bright colours are good shit, bring the 90’s back! 🙂

The best about custom is that you can decide the colors….. no really, I am tired of poor quality in production sails and boards, that is why I am on Flikka boards since january with great help in deciding the shape from Andreas O. Right now I’m waiting for my 3rd Flikka arriving in a couple of days together with 3 other boards for 2 friends of mine.

Om det blir vind idag kikar jag förbi o plåtar lite…lite skeptiskt ännu dock…15 och ostlig är det sagt. Jag körde själv på Sprecks igår, rätt kul, men lätt vind, knappt logo.

OK, jag är mer än helt 500% övertygad om lätta men ändå stabila segel. Min nya 4.5a är helt överlägset allt annat jag någonsin vindsurfat med. Inte nog med att det är löjligt lätt, riggas på en 370, utan också att det både har finfint bottendrag och tål massvis med vind. YES jag är i högsta grad partisk såsom svensk HSMdistributör, men FL slår allt annat även från HSM. För er som inte testat – GÖR DET! För de som har djup relation med andra märken – kräv en kopia! Kommer mer om detta på min blogg såsmåningom (sorry Challis kunde inte låta bli).

Faktiskt den största anledningen till att jag sålde mina Vandal Riot. Annars även det ett ganska lätt segel som riggas på kort mast vilket också sparar vikt.
