Hi, I’ve heard some really great things about the Shinn Monk and would really appreciate advice on sizing since I don’t have the possibility to test them (no retailer in Stockholm). I’m 191 cm (6’3) tall and weigh about 95 kg (210 lbs) and from what I’ve read, both the 135×42 and the 137×44 boards will work for my weight but I want to make sure that I order the right one. I’ve been kitesurfing for a year and my current setup is and Ozone Zephyr 17m, an Edge 11m and a Nobile XTR 143×48 light wind board so I’m all set for light wind. I’m also planning to pick up a 9m kite soon for windier days. What I’m looking for now is a board for when the wind is between 9 m/s-13 m/s and that will work well with a 9m and 11m Ozone Edge. Would the 42 Monk be better for me since I already have a light wind board or should I go with the 44? Any help is greatly appreciated Thanks! /James
Hi James,
Thanks for your mail and interest in Shinn.
At you size you could easily ride either the 42 wide or 44.
However as you have a Lightwind board I would without doubt suggest the 135 x 42. I am also 95kg and this is my board of choice.
With 9 and 11m kites you will have a fantastic range on the board.
regards
Mark Shinn
