It was very frustrating. We were in communication with some of the KSP riders and they were complaining that they had another day with bad consitions and at the same time..
we had great wind of 17 knots all day on Salamansa in Sao Vicente – which is not far away from Sal.

It’s not easy to arrange but next time a competition is held in Sal, I’m thinking of offering assistance to make a contingency plan so the organizers or riders have the possibility to get on the plane for the 30min flight to Sao Vicente (the pictures with the mountain backdrop would be amazing).

The trade wind from the NE accellerates between the two islands of Santo Antao (high mountains) and Sao Vicente (smaller mountains) and as a result, at Salamansa we can benefit from some extra wind, so it can happen to have 12 knots at kitebeach in Sal and 17 knots at Salamansa in Sao Vicente (although most days the difference is not that big).
Even if the wind is a total disaster in Sal with 7 knots, there is another beach on Sao Vicente that has an extra 5 knots due to another Venturi effect so you could easily find 14 knots there on the same day.

We will be putting together some packages for you to make the travel and stay easier and will post these on our website by the end of this year.
The comments we get from our clients so far are fantastic : everybody loves it.
The only thing that needs to improve: arranging travel and stay.
We work with Flycaboverde.net because of their wealth of experience – they specialize in travel to the Cape Verde islands.

I do know how far your budget reaches but…
Return flight from Copenhagen to Sao Vicente should be available at 5000 Danish Kronor and return from Stockholm should be 6400 Swedish Kronor.
Appartments in Mindelo, Sao Vicente cost 20 euros per person per night (living room, bathroom, bedroom, kitchen with fridge).

Sorry for writing in english but I simply cannot write in Swedish.

I am not neutral because I set up a kitesurf center in Sao Vicente, a new destination among the Cape Verde islands.

I think it is worth mentioning because:
1) this island is TOTALLY different from Sal and Boa Vista
2) flying to Sao Vicente will be easier starting November 3 2011

I’ll make this very short:What is special about Sao Vicente? Very little tourism, super fun city of Mindelo on a beautifull small island where within 30 minutes you can reach 7 different kitesurf spots (with consistent, reliable wind)
Two flight options to fly from Stockholm:
– via Amsterdam (first KLM, then TACV from Amsterdam to Sao Vicente)
– via Sal (first with Tui Nordic, than TACV or Halcyon to Sao Vicente)
One option to fly from Copenhagen:
– via Amsterdam (first KLM, then TACV from Amsterdam to Sao Vicente)

We have not seen anyone from Sweden yet and would love to bring a toast to the first arrival!
