Gotta agree with Rasmus on the Carve. I haven’t ridden it but the Carve series was pretty popular where I used to sail; on pretty choppy waters around Melbourne. It seemed to handle the uncomfortable conditions well. Size-wise it would be a pretty good bet. With your 65kg anything bigger would seem huge once you get back into the swing of things. I too am 65kg and ride a 105L board but only sail in winds stronger than 7m/s with a 6m sail and smaller.
Don’t know how good any board is going to be to tack out to where the wind is without a centreboard. Someone else can comment on that. Maybe a huge straight fin will be enough.
You might want to ‘slå till’ with the Carve as these larger boards don’t come up that often second hand. Price-wise you ‘could’ try to talk him down in price being 5 years old. Easier to do so if you’re buying more of the other gear… don’t know about a 9m sail though, seems a bit big to be ‘learning’ on. Again, do more reading as others will know more about that than me. Never tried such a big kit myself.
Bla bla bla… good luck. 🙂

Saw some footage years ago, during the early nineties I think, of a guy riding in the Gorge on a similar wing; except that it was attached with a mast on a windsurfing board. Wasn’t getting huge air, kinda floaty. Still, looked like a bitch to handle though.

Just to let you know Tones, I’d be still into coming out and demoing a 10m Beast or something if you guys are going to arrange a demo-day in the coming weeks. Was out last week on an easterly and didn’t really enjoy how my old C handled the gusts. Admittedly, I am a crap kiter but it should be more fun than that. 🙂 I’ve been full up with a move so haven’t been able to get down to Habo again.
Cheers.

There’s gotta be a haggus joke in there somewhere… hehe.

But what chance do we ‘weekend warriors’ have against pros like Janne who ‘kör med tyngdvästar’? 😉

Och sen en till fråga; Hur hårt ska man dra/skruva lattorna?
While looking along the batten you tighten the screw just enough so the wrinkles of the sail material (monofilm) next to the batten pocket disappear, no more. The batten pocket may still have small wrinkles in it, that’s fine.
Oh, and don’t worry about breaking the sail with too much downhaul. It ‘aint gonna break. 😉 I have to use one of those winders to get enough tension into my sails. But that could be because I don’t eat enough Wheaties at breaky time.

eller Bauhaus, båtavdelning (here in Malmö at least). Have also heard that you ‘should’ sew the patch once you have stuck it on, if you plan on leaving it like that for some time.

General question: Do sail makers hate having to ‘sprätta upp’ the leading edge when making a repair (aware that they have to get it back together again)?
I left one of my kites in for a small repair, a while back, and noticed a reluctance from the guy in having to get into the leading edge. In the end he did a good job, wasn’t pretty, but was solid.
Is this generally a hassle or is it a matter of finding a sail loft who is used to doing kite repairs?
Experiences anyone? (and yeah, am in Skåne too)
(Skotten: I am the filthy thief that nicked your knife last week. Sorry bout that, I’ll drop by the beach this week some time, when the wind’s up)

Hahahaha, had a good laugh myself. Although I was wondering why the hell you sent me a link of a bloody barge… took me a while to work it out. Just blame jonaish for hijacking the thread. I totally forgot what the actual thread was about.

Funnily enough, I might be interested J. What’s it look like, how old, and what width is it?
Will be redoing kitchen in a month and am after something that looks newish.

(funkar bra med svenska så du vet)

Ser några bommar. Har du något runt 65cm? I så fall vad är det för modell så jag kan kolla på nätet om de passar mina kites?
Tack, Petter.
