We have 2. I’ve had mine since 2003/4. I am still on the original rope, albeit a bit shorter now 😉 My wife recently got the race version XTR (?) with higher ratio even though we only use wave gear. I dig the extra purchase with that one, makes tensioning SO smooth & easy. One thing I like is that, if needed, you can get spare parts. My cog is getting a bit smooth after the years of use.

I too would say it is family friendly. My wife and I were there a few years ago (no kids though) and thought it was a great place for the non-windsurfer even though we both are surfers. It was mid-august and it blew 3-4 days out of seven, so that week it wasn’t the wind centre we had expected.
We rented from Naxos-surf which is a bit further down from Flisvos, and it ended up being a bit of a walk – not recommended if you have family in tow. If you don’t have transport even Flisvos might be a bit tough if you want the family to be with you while you surf, they would probably want to be where the beach is a bit nicer, closer to town. Don’t know if they rent gear from their café centre (closer to town).
We dug Naxos big time as it was easy to find something else to do when it wasn’t windy.

Jag kommer ihåg när jag såg en sån först, eller var det 23m, nere på Skummelövsstrand på ett kite-träff (den första kanske) back in the day.
Jag har också kvar en 15.5 AR5 som jag har svårt att slänga – what a dog of a kite. I’ve stopped kiting but still think… one day I might be tempted to pump up that mamma.

Sounds good. I’ll drop it by next time I, or someone I know, is in town. Don’t now when that’ll be though. I’m in Malmö and probably wont be going up to ‘The Bay’ until things start to warm up.
If my memory serves me right it was the first model Naish released. Came out a bit after the Wipi Classic.
Cheers.

I’m not a photographer-type like many of you but I work in a graphics world and although I haven’t used it I’ve seen Lightroom demoed and can only put in another vote for it’s cataloging ability (let alone it’s adjustment capabilities! but that’s another discussion). Don’t know if there is a free version though. I don’t know how good iPhoto is for setting tags so can’t comment there.

It’s interesting to see some guys getting that burst of acceleration from time to time. Didn’t think it’d be that noticeable from land.

Thanks,
Now it’s just a matter of finding out what constitutes a ‘modern klassiker’. But that’s what these long dark autumn/winter evenings, and the internet are for, right? 😉
Cheers.

Now it’s my turn, I thought I’d continue in this thread as I think I’m after the same board, and all the work in the thread has already been done. We don’t have to ramble up all of the afore mentioned boards as I am sure an Evo, or equivalent is the go. It’s more a question of size.
I am in a similar situation as Bohm in that I am a lightweight under 70kg but I already have a 78L Naish WaveQuest from 2003 (which I will be keeping). I think this was a type of, or precursor to, a FSW type board – wave board with flat rocker. This makes it a great board for blasting in non-wave conditions, is super quick but I find it tricky to crank into a turn or gybe when powered up in messy conditions.
As I am now venturing into west coast waves I wonder what size would suite best? My guess is around 70L, but what would be the under limit and/or over limit?.
I will be keeping the 78L Naish for mid-windy days (and for my better half to use), but am after something to get into waves with, and super windy days when I use 4.7 – 3.7 on ‘flat’ water out the back. I have not ridden waves before, but by no means am I a beginner surfer – have been gybing and chop hopping for years.
I’m probably not going to become a hard core wave sailer – just want something that I’ll enjoy for some nice turns in west coast mush and get some nice floaty jumps… oh, and handle nuclear days with my 3.7 when my 78L feels way big. I hate standing on the beach watching others cutting it up.
Or am I just making excuses… that I should keep what I have and just get better at sailing it? 😕 (or in reality, is it a bit big for what I want it to do?)
Watchya reckon?

good news – the police find the car and my insurance bring it back to germany. the car is ok and it drives. another good think is, that the hole windsurfstuff is inside. we really don´t understand that but it is ok;-)This reminds me of funny side story that happened years ago, which in no way am I suggesting that this is what happened in your case.
A mate of mine parked his car in a beach car park, came back to it later that evening to find it gone. He looked all around for ages… yep, gone. He went to the police station and reported it stolen. Two weeks later he was passing the car park and out of curiosity casually checked the area again… 100m from where he ‘thought’ his car was parked he saw a car of the same make, model and colour. He went up to it, took out his keys, opened the door and picked up his wallet that was lying on the front seat, sat down and drove off!
Goes to show that it pays to have a sh%tbox car that no strung-out-druggy-surfer would want (this was at a Sydney beach).

Is it possible to cut off just the teeth and have someone sew a zipper onto the material of the old zipper. I can understand that those people don’t feel comfortable replacing the old zipper, sewing the into the neoprene.
I took my broken drysuite (zipper) to a bootmaker and had him sew in a normal zipper just this way. Wasn’t pretty but it worked… not so dry now though.
